…things I knew, the hardest way, since 1989. I do not believe it is about religion at it’s heart, I don’t believe the laundries were either. They utilised religion as tools for power, control and personal gain in a parallel, and highly toxic matriarchal world of their own, of which Ruhama and several other *Charities* of similar origins are the natural descendants. That is the empirical overview, and it is appalling in it’s own right, but what does that mean on an individual level?
What really happens to women who desperately need help, support and a way out of sex work in a situation where Ruhama control or “advise” all resources with an agenda that advocates disempowerment and infantilisation based on a narrative million miles from every aspect of the reality sex workers face?
“Gaslighting … has the goal of actually changing who someone is, not just their behavior” “gaslighting, when effective, will actually damage your trust in yourself and your experience of reality”

Ruhama have been gaslighting their self-designated user group for 27 years. The damage must be incalculable.
